I want to share some super exciting news with you guys. For the past few months I’ve been co-writing and producing a project called DAY 8!
The whole goal of exposing the truth about what Hollywood really is, and how our content has been weaponized against us, is to ultimately decentralize the power of storytelling out of the hand of a small group of Hollywood titans and back into the hands of artists, creators and audiences, where it belongs. The purpose of everything I’m doing is to make it not only possible but preferable to make content outside the corrupt control system of Hollywood.
Most of you know me from my tweets and blogs, but THIS is what I do best.
Telling stories. If you ever wonder to yourself, ‘why does that girl care so much? Why is she risking everything to take on Hollywood?’ This is why. So that people everywhere who want to make movies can make them, and the lies of tinsel town and having to follow the yellow brink road to Hollywood for your stories to reach the masses become a distant memory.
So, what is Day 8?
DAY 8 started as the spark of an idea from my friend Euseph. He sent me 5 really good pages about this newlywed couple, Teddy and Beth. I said, ‘Euseph, this is a feature.’ Over the next few weeks, he and I wrote what is now an award winning short film. This summer we wrote the feature, and are moving into pre-production!
The short film is a “proof of concept” for the eventual feature film, which, once we secure funding, will be remade from the ground up.
DAY 8 is a comedy, inspired by couple driven storylines such as THE BREAK UP, THIS IS 40 and THE PROPOSAL along with clever, original plot lines such as THE HANGOVER, GAME NIGHT and WEDDING CRASHERS! The difference with DAY 8 is, it’s actually family friendly – you know, a movie the whole family can watch together!! I know I know, crazy concept!
WHY THIS STORY, WHY NOW?
We need more laughter!
Our modern lives have gotten positively insane! We all feel it. Add to that the fact that today, more than ever before, many young people feel marriage equals nothing more than added pressure. The idea of committing themselves and their life to someone else is overwhelming. Many are delaying marriage or foregoing it altogether. In the space between all of this stress and the drive to make sure it’s all Instagram-worthy is where DAY 8 manifests.
This story shoves the whole first year of marriage into a single day, as Teddy and Beth are thrown out of the frying pan and into the fire! But they learn that when love is at the center, even the newest of newlyweds can overcome the biggest, most outrageous challenges.
This is the first of many projects I have on the way. Your help, support and how much you all want the power structure behind our storytelling to change, is enabling me to build Hierarchy Studios, and take on Hollywood, and for all of us together to transform the filmmaking landscape from a closed, corrupt power structure into a renaissance.
